Someone may have forgotten to get me a Christmas present, and promised a weekend away to make up for it. We finally went away this past weekend, which was great because the weather was absolutely ideal for hiking, which was what I wanted to do. So, we spent part of last weekend in Cookeville, TN. There are a lot of state parks in between Nashville and Cookeville, and many more within about 15 minutes from Cookeville (in case you are not familiar with TN geography, Cookeville is about halfway between Nashville and Knoxville, so you’re not at the Smokies yet, but you’re definitely on the Cumberland Plateau, giving it a very different feel than the area around Nashville).
On Saturday, we went to two of the parks out by Cookeville. We first went to Burgess Falls, where we hiked and saw incredible waterfalls and then, later in the day, we went to Cummins Falls, which was less hiking but also beautiful. I wish I’d had more time to explore at Cummins Falls, but I guess that means I’ll have to return. Don’t have much more to say, but thought I’d share a few pictures from this pretty part of the world. The first ones are from Burgess Falls, the last one is Cummins falls.
